Some people believe that you can have a relationship with God without reading or spending time in His word. You can have a very limited relationship with Him if you take that approach. But consider Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Where can the words of God be found? In the bible. How can you live on the words of God? By reading the bible and applying it to your life. I want to encourage you with the benefits of reading the word. Spending time in scripture will do the following:

• Revive your soul
• Make you wise
• Give you joy
• Give light to your eyes

Don’t take my word for it. Read it in Psalm 19:7-9.

The word of God is IMPORTANT. Far precious than gold and sweet like honey to the reader. 

Again, I have scripture to back up this statement. 

They are more precious than gold,
    than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
    than honey from the honeycomb. – Psalm 19:10

Don’t be talked out of reading, don’t let the day end without reading, don’t let shame or lack of motivation keep you from being revived, wise, joyful and enlightened! 

The enemy, who opposes God’s word, will be happy with you staying in the dark. He will cheer you on and try to keep you so distracted and busy that you won’t get started or won’t continue reading. 

Friends, please read. You don’t have to create a bible reading aesthetic with all the color coded tabs, highlighters drawings and picturesque scenes that look good for social media . All that’s required is your empty vessel (you) that needs to be filled. Any way you want to, whether with a device or a physical bible, wherever you are, at home, riding in the car or waiting on the doctor. It doesn’t matter to God. He just wants your time and for you to receive the benefits of His truth!
