Happy New Year!
We made it through the first full week of 2024! My last few blog posts have been themed around praying, having a habitual prayer life and how God has called me to pray. So I wanted to start off the new year by continuing the prayer conversation.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says we must pray continually.
Although prayer doesn’t have to be extensive, formatted in any way or full of intricate wording, at times I can overthink things and not know how to get started. Sometimes I have so much on my heart but yet not a simple word to get release the flow.
In times like these, I like to open my bible and pray directly from God’s word. Not only does God love to hear His word repeated back to him from his children, but praying scripture also helps us align our hearts with God’s .
Below is one of my favorites from my prayer list, may we know the depth of God’s love and our power alongside the saints.
Pray this scripture silently and then pray it again personally, by using “I” or “my”. Let the Holy Spirit guide you into deeper conversation with the Lord.
Ephesians 14-21
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Let prayer be a priority this New Year!
