Out of Your Mouth

I was in Wegmans with my dad and we were standing in line chatting as we waited to be checked out.

He points and shows me the gift cards that are hanging up because he knows I love gift cards. My response was, “I would love one of those.” We continued to talk, checkout and head towards the exit.

On the way out, directly in my path, there was a gift card on the ground. This isn’t my first time experiencing a stray gift card. I’ve picked a few up in the past and there was no money on them but I always try. So, I picked it up and headed out the store.

Following normal routine, I called the gift card number and to my surprise it had $100 on it! I thanked God profusely and also asked Him to bless the person who lost it.

I realized that my words earlier in the line mattered. Without knowing my words were a prayer of hope and I believe my choice of words granted me access to the blessing God already had in store for me.

So be mindful of what you say, friends.

God delights in blessing His children but sometimes our words can cause a delay or reroute. Jesus makes it clear that words create or destroy, release our blessing or causes a cursing and come from the overflow of our heart.

What are your words inviting or killing?

See you next week!

  1. Brittany you spoke a blessing and He granted the desires of your heart. That was truly an awesome blessing. It was also sweet of you to pray for the person who lost the gift card. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth does matter! See you next week.
