You want to know what brings me joy nowadays?
Coming across a verse of Scripture that I’ve never read before.
It’s like candy to a baby, coffee for a millennial and a breezy sunny day for an outdoor lover.
For me, that is a sign of spiritual maturity because I love the feeling it gives and I wanted to bottle it up in a memory jar.
The verse that brought me this joy was Hebrews 1:3:
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
If you’re willing to admit, like I am, sometimes I can lose sight of who I’m praying to. In the back of my mind I know it’s God I’m talking to but prayers can be a hot second.
Then there are times when I set the tone before I pray and I pull to the front of my mind and consciously cover the God of heaven.
That’s what this verse did for me.
Yes, I’m praying to Jesus, but he’s the radiance of God.
Yes, I’m reading the words of Jesus, but his powers are all powerful and sustaining.
Yes, I’m consulting Jesus for an answer, but this is the Son that is seated in majesty, enthroned in heaven and is a representation of God.
That Jesus. That God.
I’m in awe of the beauty of this verse. It’s helped me see Jesus and the Father bigger than before.
Radiance.
Glory, honor and power.
Sustainer.
Reflection of God.
Thank you, one thousand times over!
See you next week!
