This week I was bringing my bible to a meetup with my friend. As I was looking at my bible, I started to feel slightly embarrassed. It’s a pink young woman’s bible, but it wasn’t the color of the bible that ignited the embarrassment, it was the age group listed on it. Let’s just say, the age group was drastically younger than my current age. The only aspects that make the bible fit for a younger age group are the simplified bible study lessons, the school age applied examples and overall a more child-like perspective.
As I sat in thought debating to grab a different bible to take with me instead, I remembered who receives the kingdom of God: little children.
Mark 10:15 and Matthew 18:3 says this, “Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” and “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
That blessed me!
Where embarrassment tried to get me to change, the word of God gave me my validation!
I immediately paused to give thanks for such a sweet encounter with the Spirit and for the reminder that I, we, are to be fully dependent, lack self-exaltation, be open, humble and have a simplicity of faith just like a child.
Thank you Jesus.
