Bear-y Thankful

2–3 minutes

As you may know, Starbucks released a viral Bearista glass cup. There were only about 8,000 nationwide, which resulted in stores getting as few as two cups total.

I’ve seen several posts with comments from people saying they had to do “ungodly things” to get the cup. That could mean fighting, cursing, scheming, cutting in line, etc.

I was blessed to get a cup, but did experience the frustrations others felt about the limited quantities. My store only had two cups and I thank God for allowing me to participate in this viral experience all while maintaining safety and being able to purchase the exact amount I wanted.

It reminded me that God will allow you to enjoy life without having to use “ungodly” means to get it.

We are in this world, but not of it. Being under covenant and a part of the family of God, we don’t have to act and react as the world does to get what we desire. As children, we have direct access to God, the ability to ask Jesus for anything and trust God for everything!

Matthew 7:11 says,

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

God is the father of good gifts! Believers can live from a place of trust and rest rather than striving or scheming. Scripture consistently teaches that God is our provider and that we receive His blessings through faith and obedience, not manipulation or anxious efforts.

While the world is saying, “Make it happen. Push your way to the top”, God is saying be still and trust me!

There have been several posts and comments condemning people for getting the cup or saying Jesus is needed more than a cup (which I do agree) but I declare this cup is not and will not be an idol, but with every sip and each picture I take I’ll remember God and the manifestation of his goodness! So, yes it’s just a cup but it’s also my testimony.

See you next week!
