Alive & Grateful

1–2 minutes

On my team meeting my director shared that he was having his first child, a son. Two other teammates who are dads chimed in and shared some cute experiences with their little ones. The story shared was so sweet and wholesome I wanted to tell you about it.

He said, “Everyday my son comes into my room at 6 am and says, Dad! I woke up today! I’m awake. I woke up again!” Then he went on to say, “Everyday he’s just so grateful to wake up again.”

Is that not the childlike mentality, thankfulness and excitement God calls us to? I don’t have children, but I could imagine if that was my sweet son or daughter waking me up that way. How could you not start your day with praise and worship after that wake up call.

Children can have deep spiritual insights that adults miss or become blind too. That’s why the Bible instructs us in Matthew 18 that we must become like a child to enter the kingdom.

We look for big reasons to praise God, but why not start with the first and most obvious miracle everyday, waking up.

Lord, I thank you for your children who teach us through their questions, their pure heart and sweet smiles. May we never be hardened to the way you move through them. Amen!

See you next week!
