I saw a man pick up a coin and toss it in the air. He looked at it and then kept walking. I was too far to see the coin, but if I had to guess it was a penny. There is a superstition that the heads side of a penny is lucky, bringing good fortune when found face up.
It was an innocent action because he wasn’t bothering anyone, but it made my heart sad. Why? Many people are going through life wishing, thriving off luck or happenstance. All of which are the opposite of God’s kingdom, which brings assurance, hope and completeness.
Imagine waking up and looking for guidance from a card, a penny, a dice or anything that will predict your outcome. That level of randomness is rooted in nothingness.
I pray that people across the world would attach to the true vine!
That each heart would turn from seeking luck to seeking God, turn aside from chance to the certainty of His will and to stop trusting images on a card to finding their image in Christ.
You want to feel complete? God can do that.
“and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” Colossians 2:10
You want a life authored for goodness? God can plan that.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
You want certainty? God gives that.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 1:11
There is life in Jesus. There is hope in Jesus. There is eternity in Jesus.
Jesus is available and for you! No luck needed, only faith in the Son.
See you next week!
