Today I just want to reflect on the song Goodness of God by CeCe Winans. If you haven’t heard it, pause for a moment and listen to it below before continuing.
I want to highlight the chorus:
Cause all my life You have been faithful
Chorus
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
Each time I listen to this part of the song my hand slowly creeps into the air towards God, my other hand begins to rest on my chest over my heart and tears begin to flow. This is my position of praise. Having a hand outstretched to the Lord, ready to receive what He offers and then using my other hand to connect it to my heart.
In four and a half minutes, 26 years of life replays in my head. I reflect on the times God brought me to, through and out. Then as the film of my life comes to a close, I see myself in my current position, sitting listening to this song. After reviewing the good, the bad and the twists and turns of life, I realize I am still here because of the Goodness of God!
If you have the time, listen to this song one more time, but this time think of the earliest memory of your life and transition to your present moment. I bet you can see God’s goodness sprinkled throughout.
My dear friend, be encouraged today as you remember (and expect) God’s goodness. Surely it is running after you, so slow down to let it catch you.
See you next week!
