Make Yourself Small

Some of my best relief when I pray comes from me sitting on the floor, on the side of my bed. I can visually take in my entire room and feel it’s size in comparison to me. The one spot I’l choose to sit in is so much smaller than what is surrounding me. I take it a step further and think about my room size in comparison to my apartment, my apartment unit in comparison to my building, my building in comparison to my community and so on and so forth.

Then I feel the assurance that my problems too, look and feel the same way in relation to God.

By physically making myself smaller, it allows me to put my troubles, concerns and worries into perspective. Everything we take to God is small in comparison to His might, glory, riches, grace and mercy. What may feel like the end of the world to us can be completely resolved, overridden and reversed by God with just a whisper.

Life is full of valleys, but as you take your concerns to God in prayer, believe also that He is minimizing the impact it’s having on you. This means you can sleep at night knowing that “thing” is not bigger than God, you can get your appetite back, you can enjoy your me time again and you can smile/laugh and mean it!

So I leave you with this challenge dear friends, make yourself small, whether physically or figuratively. Put yourself in a habitual position to release your troubles to God by placing them in his faithful hands. Afterall, He does have a mighty right hand and an outstretched arm.

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever

2 Corinthians 4:17

Awesome illustration. We must cast all our burden on the LORD, and he will sustain us.
