The Covering

I workout on a regular basis, about 5-6 days a week. Like most people I like a moderate environment for my workout. Low to medium levels of talking, appropriate music playing and respect of those working out around you. Essentially, I appreciate when people match the vibe of the room and don’t come in and disturb it.

On most days, my gym is so quiet I can workout without music playing in my airpods. However, there is this one guy who always and I do mean always, slam his weights so loud it’s enough to make you flinch. Not just one slam here or one slam there, it’s a consistent slamming for his entire hour plus workout.

So as soon as I see him strolling in, that’s my que to turn on my music on and it covers his noise. I’m not bothered. I’m not flinching. He’s not getting the best of me.

The music was my covering.

Our faith in God operates in a similar way. He is our security, our covering and protective blanket. When I see that man walking into the gym I prepare myself with music to cancel his antics. Similarly when we know we are facing an attack of the enemy we should arm ourselves with our faith and prayer. When we choose the spiritual weapons of God we get to be unbothered, we don’t have to flinch at the jabs of the enemy and he most certainly doesn’t get the best of our emotions.

The enemy will always be annoying, loud and persistent but when God is your covering, He is always louder than him.

Not at all saying this man is evil or has a fixed intention on being so disruptive, but his foolery is now tied to a spiritual lesson for me. It reminds me to laugh in the face of opposition, to team up with God and confidently trust the peace that God promises.

See you next week!

    Hallelujah to His precious name.
Yes, yes and yes when we team up with God we will always win!! We will be covered, we are kept in perfect peace, favored, blessed and protected.
    His word clearly tells us:
“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” The Good News is Even in times when we feel undeserving, the Lord will watch over us and shield us from evil things seen and not seen.
It is wonderful to know we have coverage as long as we keep the faith, pray and trust Him…regardless of the situation we find ourselves in. Thank you Brittany for the reminder and sharing a great illustration. 🙌🏽
