One of the many reasons I don’t like driving is the pressure of speed.
The speed limit is set to determine your max speed according to the environment of the road, being a highway, neighborhood or school zone.
The problem I can’t seem to get over, is that even when I’m following the speed limit there is always someone who wants to go faster. Creating this internalized pressure that I’m not driving well or they’re upset with my driving morals.
It’s the same for our walk with Christ.
The word of God is our speed limit for life. It tells us how “fast” to go and what to do on the winding roads of life.
However, unlike when driving, when we sometimes align ourselves with those speeding past us, we have to be unyielding and steadfast in the righteousness God wants from us. Not looking to the left or to the right, but staying focused on our course.
There will always be someone going faster and someone achieving new heights in life according to their own rules but remember the race is not for the swift and obedience to God can take you farther than any speed or resources.
Slow down.
Stay the course.
Stay in step with God.
See you next week!
