No Cap

I recently listened to a sermon about capacity. The reason that sermon title jumped out at me out of all the others is because of this single word: capacity. 

When I saw the title, I immediately flashed back to time when I earnestly prayed for God to increase my capacity.

Without making you listen to the sermon, I’ll summarize it in a series of questions and bullet points. 

Question 1: What is your capacity? 

Is this a quantitative or qualitative answer? Regardless of whatever answer you just came up with, the real answer is we don’t know and due to that uncertainty, put it in God’s hands. 

Question 2: What would be your capacity in Christ, if you operated without fear or fear of failure?

First off, I wish we all could commit to that 100% but my answer would be “unlimited capacity” simply because of this scripture:

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen

Question 3: What do you do for work?

Simple question. I’m a [insert job title here]. 

For me, this answer would be an engineer. 

The problem with that though, is that labels limit your capacity. Yes, I’m an engineer, but I’m ALSO a book enthusiast, a content creator, a writer and many other things I haven’t stepped into yet, such as a wife, mother, founder of a nonprofit, tech developer and programmer and more!

Our capacity in Christ can be unlimited because once He puts a demand on what He has already placed inside of us that’s how we transform our everyday places such as work into revival, refrain from getting easily frustrated at inconveniences and conquer burnout because we have a new level of capacity on what we can handle to complete and engage in familial, relational and community assignments.   

Your capacity independent of God is limited. 

Your capacity dependent on God is limitless. 

“No cap” is a common term among young people meaning they are not lying or exaggerating, but I want you to remember “no cap” in the context of this blog to be limitless capacity. 

No cap, no limit and no boundaries on what God can produce through you. 

Don’t get too familiar with your capacity limits that you miss the capacity available to you through Christ. 

Heavenly Father, we come before You seeking Your grace and guidance. We ask that You increase our capacity to love, serve, and understand. Strengthen our hearts and minds so we may embrace challenges and grow in faith. Fill us with Your wisdom and empower us to reflect Your light in the world. May we be open to Your will, ready to expand our gifts for the benefit of others. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
