In NC hurricane season runs from June to November. Recently, our state and several others faced a catastrophic hurricane, Helene. North Carolinians were encouraged to have a storm plan, create and have storm kits ready, identify a room in the house for safety and for some, evacuation.
When the storm is moving to your area, you’ll get flooded with weather notifications on your phone and updates from the weatherman to take refuge, move/remain indoors and to take cover.
All of that information and warning is to protect you. The physical you.
How can we protect our spirit man in turbulent, thrashing and inclement “weather”? The answer is with the Word of God.
I wanted to share these scriptures I recall in times of trouble. Try to commit them to memory so you have something to withdraw in your time of need.
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.
Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Isaiah 25:4
You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.
Take refuge in the Lord, friends.
See you next week!
