Lord, I thank you for everything, especially in those times when I gave you nothing. When you gave me previews of peace, but I didn’t surrender what was bothering me. When I lost my fight and you were my strength. When you reminded me of scripture, yet I still didn’t fully believe it. You stayed, day in and day out, sunrise and sunset, you never left! We know that doing the same things and hoping for a different outcome is illogical, so I pray that this month you will fill us, fuel us, push us, encourage us and intercede for us to do life differently. A level of difference that brings you glory, breaks the chains of injustice, unties the oppressive yolk and provides for the naked, thirsty and lost.

A new month is a motivating time for a fresh start, but the truth is every breath we take is a privilege to start living in a way that pleases you. Unify us dear Lord. Bind us to you and gather us to yourself like sheep, so that we learn your voice and stay close. If we do nothing else, may we love you and our neighbor to the fullest, trying everyday to be an aid to someone and not a stumbling block. Clear our hearts and minds of evil, laziness, manipulation and procrastination. Have us live and view every day of August as an opportunity with the mindset of “I get to” instead of “I have to”.

You’ve given your promises through your word and now it’s our responsibility to scout it out and stand firm for the deliverance of them. Oh God, we are nothing without you! Thank you for promoting us from servant to friend and inviting us in your courts. There is no place I’d rather be and no one else I’d want to walk through August with! I will not put my trust in chariots or horses or the strength of man, I will only trust you, God.

The length of your arm is not too short to save, the words of your mouth give life and the blasts of your nostrils bring about whatever you please. God Almighty, we bless you, we surrender to your will and we open the door with an esteemed invitation for you to guide us through August.
