Send Rain

1–2 minutes

NC and several other southern states have been experiencing severe droughts. Although it has been hard on farmers and the households with water restrictions, the drought presented an opportunity that could have been missed without a spiritual perspective.

In 1 Kings 18:41-45, Elijah prayed for rain on Mount Carmel after a 3 and half year drought, to end the famine and confirm God’s power over Baal. After proving the Lord was the true God by calling down fire, Elijah prayed seven times until a small cloud appeared, ending the severe punishment for Israel’s idolatry.

Just like then, the world has many vices and idols and the question came to my mind, does this drought have a spiritual connection?

The opportunity of this drought was to remember God and pray with power and in faith to the true God. Just like with Elijah, the rain took a little time (seven times the servant went to check) to come but praying without ceasing allowed God to move and show himself as the true one.

Rain in the biblical days symbolized blessing, provision, and favor. Lord send your rain! Not just in times of drought but at all times because of your goodness! Amen.

See you next week!
