As I get ready to turn 30 next week, this post is a gift to myself and my way of marking the milestone—30 things I know to be true, I’ve lived, learned, wrestled with and want to carry with me into this next decade. This is my golden year, turning 30 on the 30th, and I couldn’t be more grateful to know that God chose to keep me, bless me abundantly and love me endlessly.
- Serve God.
- Read as often as you can.
- Plan a day where you stay home and do nothing.
- Your body is not an enemy, it’s a gift that carries you.
- Say yes to pictures so you never forget.
- Write down your reflections, feelings and hopes.
- Clean spaces help you function better.
- If you want to change your life, ask God to change your mind.
- Pray for others as soon as they cross your mind.
- Do your part to keep God’s earth clean.
- Learn military time and military alphabet.
- Do your best to see people the way God sees them.
- Silence is not always humility, your feelings matter.
- Get your 10,000 steps daily.
- Believe miracles still happen.
- Not every thought deserves belief.
- Cry when you feel like it.
- Make a bucket list, it keeps hope alive.
- Always look for coupons and ask about discounts, that’s a form of stewardship.
- Grace allows you to start at any moment.
- Praise more than you complain, remember God inhabits praises.
- Donate to impactful causes that change lives and the world for better.
- Get a library card and create a Libby account.
- Ambient lighting is more than a vibe; it relaxes the brain.
- Waking up early and making to-do lists are not overrated.
- God hears the quietest desires, the ones I barely want to admit to myself.
- Most opportunities come from people and community.
- You can be sorrowful and grateful, one doesn’t have to cancel the other.
- God will work it out.
- I am becoming who God always knew I could be.
See you next week!
