Light of Life

1–2 minutes

My sister and I went to Trader Joe’s and if you shop there, you know they are super friendly and always make conversation with you at checkout.

Usually it’s the items we buy that become the topic of conversation, since we like the same things, but this time the light of life was the center.

The conversation was random at first – the weather, planting and flowers, hobbies. etc. Just after he asked if we were sisters, he said, “I can tell you know where you are going after this life, isn’t that a beautiful thing!”

I was so shocked I started to fumble over my words — unknown to him I’ve been studying John which has major themes of spiritual light and darkness.

I love talking about Jesus, so we started talking about the free gift of salvation, all with people behind us ready to check out.

As we were walking to the car, I looked at my sister up and down and then at my clothes because we often wear clothing that references Jesus.

Today we weren’t.

That’s when I got the chills. That was my personal God wink.

I believe the light of Jesus was our identifier. That the glory given to the Son by the Father, that we’ve accepted as truth, was all around us.

Psalm 34:5 says, “Those who look to him are radiant”. Therefore, out light was shining.

I praise God for the gift of his Son, the freedom to choose light over darkness and that my life is in his hands!

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
