Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. – Psalm 9:10

If I could summarize this verse into a few short words it would be: If You Know You Know.

If you truly know the name of the Lord, you’ll know it’s more than a name. It’s his actual presence, entire character and authority. When we call on His name and seek him, we are taking shelter in who He is, his holiness, power, and mercy.

Hannah knew. She poured out her soul to the Lord for a child. She trusted His name and sought him.

King Hezekiah knew. When the Assyrian king surrounded Jerusalem and sent threatening letters demanding surrender, Hezekiah took the letters to the temple and spread them before the Lord. He trust His name and sought him.

Ezra and the exiles knew. As the exiles prepared to travel across dangerous, bandit-filled territory to rebuild Jerusalem, Ezra proclaimed a fast so they could seek God for a safe journey. He trusted His name and sought him.

You’ll know his name through relationship.

You’ll trust him because of his history of faithfulness.

You’re never forsaken in this life.

See you next week!
