The Gospel Song Challenge

1–2 minutes

Talking with God and being still with him can be so fun! Before reading I usually pray for a clear mind and complete focus. I’ve never prayed for the time spent to be fun, but thank God he knows all things and what we need even when we don’t ask. I am such a goofball and fun vibes are always for me, so it touched me that God reached out to me in a way he knew I would enjoy.

Sitting before my bible, out of nowhere the Spirit gave me the idea to think of a gospel song that relates to the theme of books in the bible. I said challenge accepted!

Let me pause here. Through fun and creativity, God received glory. Following Jesus doesn’t mean living a boring life!

Anyways, I thought of a few songs on the spot, but this “game” spanned a few weeks as I listened to the radio and reflected on what book it aligned to. This simple “game” with the Spirit caused me to ponder on scripture, engage in worship and spend time with God. I was completely in awe of the personal invitation to be with him.

I just wanted to share my ‘song associations’ with you and to encourage you to find creative ways to reflect on what you read.

If you want to in the comments tell me your favorite book of the bible and what song you would associate with it.

Bonus points: Feel free to turn these songs into a playlist of worship.
