Allow me a moment to tell you the back story before I get to the good part. 

I was heading out to an appointment and just as I was about to leave, I turned back and grabbed a bottle of water. Mind you I hardly travel with water, which is something I always regret later. I make it to the office and I’m about to get out of the car, leaving the water behind, and my sister says “You should bring that water in with you.” I looked at her then at the water debating if I wanted to because I wasn’t thirsty but I did it anyways. So I’m sitting in the waiting room, watching people check in and then this lady comes in that starts coughing continuously. She coughs and coughs and then decides to get up for a drink of water. The water fountains were out of service even though there was no sign indicating that, so she proceeded to ask the receptionist for a drink who unfortunately didn’t have anything to offer. Immediately, the Holy Spirit says “You give her a drink.” I turn my head to the unopened water bottle sitting next to me and just smile.

From the moment I planned to leave the house, God invited me to participate in the opportunity to be kind to a stranger, see the divine and change the atmosphere with a small act of care. In Matthew 25:35, Jesus teaches that caring for the hungry, the thirsty, and strangers is the same as caring for Him. 

Think about that! God who is all powerful and self sufficient allowed me to take care of him! 

As much as that lady needed water, I needed this experience with God. 

Helping people matters! So any chance you can, do it and when the Spirit leads you to bring a bottle of water with you, obey. You never know what needs you’re about to meet or the person you will refresh. 

Go change the world according to your faith!

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in – Matthew 25:35

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. – Proverbs 11:25
