About the Father’s Business

1–2 minutes

My coworker and I were messaging back and forth because he was a little apprehensive about a meeting he had coming up and so he asked me to pray for him.

When I read the message I was multitasking so I just smiled and kept going. Then the Holy Spirit stopped me and asked me “Are you going to ignore the need for prayer?”. Being so busy my mind read it was an expression rather than a request.

My heart swelled and I prayed right then. The fact that I was trusted and identified as a praying woman in the workplace meant so much to me and I almost missed it.

I’m so grateful to the Spirit for stopping me from my busyness to be about the Father’s business!

Be aware of “Martha” moments. Luke 10:41–42 reminds us not to let tasks distract us from spending time with Him and being present for the more important things. I got the opportunity to pray for someone else and be with my God in prayer, when I paused my work for better reasons.

See you next week!

  1. Brittany, beautiful testimony and your obedience to the Holy Spirit.  I thank God for granting your co-worker the boldness to seek prayer.  May your light, character, and daily display of the fruit of the spirit continue to be radiate and be contagious in your work place. They see and know!!!  It is also the way you respond to unfairness, tense, and angry situations with a calm and gentle tone. To God be the glory.
