Summer in the Psalms: Summer of Signs

1–2 minutes

Week 5: Summer of Signs

Reading

  • Psalm 86
  • Key verse: 86:17

Reflection

I was going through a fraud investigation on my credit card with my banking institution. Sometimes these cases can be open and closed, but this instance had some additional complexities and I was concerned about getting my money back. As I would gather my evidence and speak with different representatives, I was praying that God would bless my all efforts and give me favor. It had been about 5 days after I submitted my case and I hadn’t heard any communication on where the progress was, so I reached out to my bank via chat at 3:28 am because I couldn’t sleep.

Again, praying for favor and answers, then God gave me a sign.

Look at the name of the representative that joined the chat.

Jesus’ name alone brings comfort and help in times of uncertainty and His name appearing on my screen instantly soothed me. He didn’t perform a big miracle at that point but He showed me the power and goodness of his name entering the chat, just like the power of his name entering your home, or the hospital or work.

Thank you God for signs of your goodness.

Summer Practice

A practical response to Psalm 86:

  • Be compassionate and gracious to others – remembering God is compassionate and gracious.
  • Depend on God in every situation.
  • Call on the name of Jesus.

Prayer

Jesus, your name holds weight! There is no one that compares to you and no deeds that compare to yours. Help us to devote ourselves to you and seek you all day long. Our cry for mercy, comfort and help reach your ear in times of trouble and for that we thank you! Give us an undivided heart that fears your name. Continue to be gracious and compassionate to us when we don’t deserve it. Grant strength to all your servants and show each of us signs of your goodness.

Amen!

See you next week!
